Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Information Release Form

In the waivers and release section of the global education program application, applicants complete a FERPA release form. Ohio State will only use that information if a traveler:

  • Is unable to speak for themselves
  • Is perceived to be a danger to themselves or others
  • Fails to comply with legitimate directives of university officials
  • Is in a location directly impacted by a significant health, safety or security incident such as civil unrest, act of terrorism or a significant natural disaster.

In all other instances, we expect travelers to maintain contact with their family and supporters unless a specific request has been made for the global health and safety team or other university staff to be in contact.
