Students must notify the Office of the University Registrar of their U.S. address within 30 days of initial enrollment at Ohio State and within 10 days of any subsequent address changes so that The Office of International Affairs can report it to SEVIS.
Failure to update your address in the required time frame may result in termination of your immigration status.
To update your address, visit Buckeye Link, log in using your Ohio State username and password and click on "Personal Information." You are then able to change your current address under "Addresses."
The current address field is the one that is reported to U.S. Immigration as your current U.S. address. Please note that you cannot use a P.O. box for this address; SEVIS requires the street address where the student physically resides.
Please use the following format when updating your address:
Line 1: 123 Buckeye St. (put the number assigned to the house or apartment building before the street name)
Line 2: Apt. 4B (use line 2 only if you are in an individual unit within a larger building)
City: Columbus
State: OH
Postal: 43210 (lookup your zip code, if you are not sure)
County: Franklin (note that this is for Ohio county, not country)
Students on practical training
Students who temporarily move to another location to participate in Curricular Practical Training (CPT) must update their local address via Buckeye Link. J-1 students on Academic Training should also continue to update their address through Buckeye Link.
International students on Optional Practical Training (OPT) or STEM OPT should continue to update their address on the SEVP portal. Learn more about maintaining status while on OPT.
