2024 marked three important milestones between Ohio State and Brazil: 200 years of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the United States, 60 years of partnership with the University of São Paulo (USP) and 10 years since the opening of Ohio State's Brazil Gateway in São Paulo.

Heading off to college is an exciting new adventure that is uniquely challenging for international students. For new Buckeyes from India, the India Gateway can be counted on to offer assistance. 

With a goal of fostering innovative initiatives and expanding capacity-building programs, India Gateway Academic Director Jaideep Anand traveled to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to explore new collaborations in healthcare, education and entrepreneurship. The India Gateway initiated a series of meetings with key stakeholders, including Max Superspeciality, Nanavati Max, NITI Aayog, King Edward Memorial, the Government of Karnataka, and the American Institute of Indian Studies.

Suélen Pereira, a Brazilian attorney, is the first recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Alumni Club of Brazil. Pereira’s scholarship supported her enrollment in the Ohio State Moritz College of Law’s summer program, "The Foundations of U.S. Law & Practice."

An afternoon filled with family and friends, good food and football ticket giveaways comprised the best parts of the annual Brazil Gateway send-off events for new Brazilian Buckeyes.

This year, new students and scholars and their families met over lunch in São Paulo to learn more about Ohio State and connect with new, current and former Buckeyes. Caue Faria and Tiago D'Elia, current Ohio State students, were joined by Jaret Waters and Gustavo Ribeiro, Ohio State alumni, to share their experiences and valuable tips about life on campus.

I've been at The Ohio State University since the fall of 2021, when I joined Claudia Turro's lab in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. After receiving my master's in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of São Paulo, I decided I wanted to work on more fundamental aspects of designing metallodrugs for cancer treatment.

In his role as the academic director for the Brazil Gateway, Fabio Leite, associate professor in Experimental/Cognitive Psychology at Ohio State Lima, connects with partners, alumni and current and future students to build and grow long-lasting relationships.

Growing up in a Cleveland suburb, Nathan Gajowski had a knack for tinkering with gadgets and dreaming up new inventions. After finishing high school, Gajowski wanted to study engineering. Ohio State seemed a perfect fit with its top-notch engineering program and affordable in-state tuition.

“Being from India, I had always aspired to collaborate with the Tata group, renowned for their exemplary work culture and corporate reputation. The Fisher College of Business Global Applied Projects (GAP) course at Ohio State turned this aspiration into a reality.
