Resources to support a diverse and inclusive campus

Ohio State is committed to a safe and welcoming campus, a comprehensive and inclusive education, and a truly anti-racist community for all. All too often there are examples of antisemitism, racism and other hateful behavior reported in the national news.

Diversity and inclusion are essential components of Ohio State's excellence, and the university's shared values establish the commitment to reinforce an ethical culture. There is no place for hate at Ohio State. 

IIE publishes Open Doors Report

The Ohio State University is ranked in the top 30 nationally among doctoral institutions hosting international students, according to a national report released today.

Ohio State is 26th in the nation and 6th in the Big Ten with 6,604* international students enrolled in 2021, a decrease of 3.8 percent from 2020.

The outbreak of COVID-19 during the 2020-21 academic year significantly limited the ability for students to study abroad and Ohio State currently is not nationally ranked.

Pre-departure events for new students

Students from China planning to attend Ohio State autumn semester learned about college life in the U.S. and the importance of being involved both inside and outside the classroom during a virtual Pre-Departure Orientation held on June 25. The event was hosted by the China Gateway and the Offices of International Affairs, Student Academic Success and Student Life and attended by 226 new students and their parents.

High school counselor advisory board formed in China

Identifying ways in which Ohio State can best facilitate a student’s transition from high school to college and through graduation is the goal of the newly formed High School Counselor Advisory Board in China. In partnership with the Office of Student Academic Success, the China Gateway appointed members to the inaugural advisory board, which held its first meeting on May 24. The board consists of nine experienced high school counselors from cities across China including, Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Ji’nan and Wuhan.

Chang forges new path as first international USG president

When Jacob Chang, a fourth-year student from Nanjing, China, first arrived at Ohio State, he never could have imagined how the next few years would unfold. Chang started as a computer science and engineering student.

English Conversation Program receives leadership award

The Office of International Affairs’ English Conversation Program (ECP) has been recognized with a 2022 Student Life Leadership Award. 

International Affairs recognized with advising award

The Office of International Affairs has been awarded the Wayne Carlson Friend of ACADAOS Award for the 2021-22 academic year. ACADAOS is Ohio State’s internal Academic Advising Association, a professional organization for academic advisors. The award was presented on April 27 at the annual ACADAOS Recognition Ceremony, which honors outstanding advisors and advising administrators. 

Students complete the 2021-22 Global Engagement Certificate Program

Congratulations to those who completed the Global Engagement Certificate Program (GECP) in the 2021-22 academic year. The certificate is an opportunity for students to enhance their Ohio State experience while becoming global citizens.

Ohio State named top producer of Fulbright scholars and students

The Ohio State University is among only five institutions in the country to be named a top producer for both Fulbright U.S. scholar and U.S. student programs, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. 

Ohio State is tied for fifth nationally with six Fulbright scholar awards and is tied for 14th with 10 Fulbright student awards for the 2021-22 academic year.

Additions to STEM Designated Degree Program List

On January 21, 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the addition of 22 fields to the STEM Designated Degree Program List.
