GOHi provided training on respiratory specimen management

The Global One Health initiative (GOHi) has continued supporting the Ethiopian government in strengthening the national severe acute respiratory infection (SARI)/influenza-like illness (ILI) surveillance system through a range of capacity-building activities. A recently conducted joint supportive supervision on ILI/SARI sentinel sites indicated a critical gap in the trained workforce on sample collection at the facility level.

GOHi provided training on IPC practices

The Global One Health initiative (GOHi) provided a three-day training in June for healthcare workers from Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (Addis Ababa University) and Zewditu Memorial Hospital on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices. 

GOH, LLC conducted AMR specimen collection TOT training

As a continuation of the Global One Health initiative's (GOHi) commitment to combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Ethiopia, GOHi collaborated with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) to deliver master Training of Trainers (TOT) training in clinical specimen collection for participants selected from AMR-surveillance-participating health facilities in March 2022. 

Capacity-building training on causality assessment of adverse events

The Global One Health initiative (GOHi), the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) and the World Health Organization Ethiopia Office (WHO-ET), collaborated and delivered capacity-building training on the investigation and causality assessment of Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI). 

ACE Fellows expand leadership training during visit to Ohio State

The Ohio State University hosted more than 30 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows from the 2021-22 cohort during their five-day closing retreat in Columbus from June 1-5. Since its inception in 1965, the ACE Fellows Program has strengthened institutions in American higher education by identifying and preparing over 2,000 faculty, staff and administrators for senior positions in college and university leadership through its distinctive and intensive, cohort-based mentorship model.

GOHi faculty awarded USDA grant for antifungal research

Maintaining antifungal products for crop protection and human disease control is essential to food security and global human health.

Research and scholarship grant recipients announced

Seven faculty members, 19 graduate students and three undergraduate students are the recipients of more than $100,000 in funding to pursue international research and scholarship projects during the 2022-23 academic year. The International Research and Scholarship grant competition is supported by the Offices of International Affairs, Research, Student Academic Success and the Global Gateways.

GOHi participates in workshop on genomic surveillance strategy

GOHi participated in a national consultative workshop organized by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, in collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Initiative, to develop a national strategy document on genomic surveillance for SARS-COV-2 and other pathogens. 

Measles five-dose vaccine project survey training

The Global One Health (GOH), LLC provided training for field supervisors and data collectors of the measles five-dose vaccination vial survey. The survey was designed to assess the effect of two interventions that may help address health workers' reluctance to open 10-dose measles vaccination vials. 

OHEART fellow successfully defends dissertation
