Ohio State ranked a top producer of Fulbright U.S. scholars and students

The Ohio State University is among only nine doctoral institutions in the country to be named a top producer for both Fulbright U.S. scholar and U.S. student programs, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. This is the second consecutive year that Ohio State has been ranked in both categories.

Ohio State is tied for 4th nationally with seven Fulbright scholar awards and is tied for 18th with 12 Fulbright student awards for the 2022-23 academic year.

GOHi provides training on PHEM and COVID-19 surveillance

The Global One Health initiative (GOHi), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), delivered a four-day training on the basics of Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) and COVID-19 surveillance.

22 GOHi surveillance officers and coordinators participated in training at severe acute respiratory infections (SARI)/influenza-like illness (ILI) sites in Ethiopia. The respiratory and viral disease surveillance team from the EPHI, experts from the National Emergency Operations Center and GOHi facilitated the training.

GOHi staff spotlight: Eden Dagnachew Zeleke

Eden Dagnachew Zeleke is a program coordinator at the Global One Health initiative (GOHi) Eastern Africa Office. Zeleke specializes in clinical trials that focus on evidence-based medicine by reviewing the utilization, safety and efficacy of medication, diagnostics and observational studies.

In her current role at GOHi, Zeleke coordinates three projects on anti-microbial resistance, Adverse Event Following Immunization and a costing study on Vaccine Preventable Disease surveillance.

Gebreyes meets with partners in Ethiopia

Wondwossen Gebreyes, Global One Health initiative (GOHi) executive director, visited Ethiopia in December to visit key partners, including the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), Armauer Hansen Research Institute, Ministry of Education and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Ethiopia Office.

Collaborative research implementation for current projects, capacity building in various One Health areas and plans for future partnerships were discussed.

Resources to support a diverse and inclusive campus
