Two students awarded Boren Scholarships to study critical languages

Two Ohio State students were awarded Boren Scholarships to study critical languages. Piper Harrell, international studies and Japanese double major, will study Japanese at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, for the 2023-24 academic year. Wen Holmes, criminology and Chinese double major and international studies minor, will study Mandarin at the National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, for the 2023-24 academic year.

Ohio State ranked a top producer of Fulbright U.S. scholars and students

The Ohio State University is among only nine doctoral institutions in the country to be named a top producer for both Fulbright U.S. scholar and U.S. student programs, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. This is the second consecutive year that Ohio State has been ranked in both categories.

Ohio State is tied for 4th nationally with seven Fulbright scholar awards and is tied for 18th with 12 Fulbright student awards for the 2022-23 academic year.
