Recipe Submission

A student serving food at Taste of OSU.

Taste of OSU will be held on Friday, February 14, from 5-8:30 p.m. in the Archie Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union. Seventeen student organizations will be selected to cook food and decorate a cultural booth. Three student organizations will be selected to prepare and serve a beverage relevant to their home country and decorate a cultural booth. The deadline to apply is Sunday, November 3 at 11:59 p.m.

Each student organization applying to serve food in a cultural booth must submit two recipes. If rice or bread is served, it counts as your second dish. Recipes must be submitted using our Taste of OSU Recipe Card, and all measurements must be converted into U.S. metrics.

Recipes should be simple and reflect more of an appetizer than a dinner item.

Please be as specific as possible in your recipes and look up English translations of ingredients when necessary. Remember, each dish should make approximately 400 servings of two-ounce portions. You can convert a smaller recipe using a recipe calculator.

All recipes are subject to review by our Taste of OSU Chefs and could be denied if recipes are too complex. Substitutions of ingredients will be made, if necessary.

Recipe Rules

Please note that recipes are saved and filed under your student organization name to be used for four years. If your student organization re-applies to be in Taste of OSU next year, the same recipes will be used. This procedure helps reduce food waste and streamline food preparation.

You can find an example of a correct recipe submission.

Recipe restrictions

  • No shellfish; shrimp on marinated skewers would be okay
  • Cost-prohibitive steak cuts will be substituted
  • No dates
  • No pre-cooked food – all food must be completely prepared by the student organization in an Ohio State kitchen
  • No soups
  • Real saffron will be substituted with turmeric

Completed Recipe Cards

Please have all measurements in standard units. Review a correct example of what your recipe card should look like.

  • Download the Recipe Card (each recipe should include directions and steps along with the ingredients and quantities)
  • Recipe Converter (make sure to recalculate each quantity so that it yields 400 servings of two-ounce portions of each dish)

Application

Complete the application form and upload your recipe to the online folder linked in the application. Please only submit Word documents (no PDFs), and the file name should be your organization's full name rather than the acronym. Your application is not complete unless you have responded to the required questions and uploaded your recipes.

If you will be partnering with another organization, you can submit a single application. Please list the full names of all of the organizations on your application and on your recipe card. If you would like to be considered for a beverage-only booth, please submit one beverage recipe as well.
