Ohio State ranked a top producer of Fulbright U.S. scholars and students

The Ohio State University is among only nine doctoral institutions in the country to be named a top producer for both Fulbright U.S. scholar and U.S. student programs, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. This is the second consecutive year that Ohio State has been ranked in both categories.

Ohio State is tied for 4th nationally with seven Fulbright scholar awards and is tied for 18th with 12 Fulbright student awards for the 2022-23 academic year.

Fulbright Scholar Lewandowski joins Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures

Wojciech Lewandowski, a visiting Fulbright Slavic Award recipient from Poland’s University of Warsaw, has joined the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures for spring semester 2023.

Craig Shapiro receives the 2022-2023 Fulbright Open Study/Research Award

Craig Shapiro, a doctoral student with the Department of Anthropology, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Open Study/Research Award by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants for this award design their own projects for a country and often work alongside faculty at international institutions of higher education. The award is available in 140 countries around the world.

Fulbright U.S. student awards announced

The Ohio State University is pleased to announce that 10 undergraduates and two doctoral candidates received prestigious U.S. Student Fulbright Awards for the 2022-2023 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Schmitz awarded Fulbright U.S. Specialist Award to The Netherlands

Amy J. Schmitz, John Deaver Drinko-Baker & Hostetler Chair in Law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, has been awarded a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Specialist award to strengthen the research, education and international collaboration in the field of digital conflict resolution.

Beaujolais awarded Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Moldova

Brieanne Beaujolais, lecturer in the College of Social Work, has been awarded a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program research award to Moldova to teach courses on “Gender Equity and Gender-Based Violence” at Moldova State University in Chișinău, Moldova. Beaujolais will also conduct a research project on technology-facilitated sexual violence and its use in sex trafficking.

Lara awarded Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Germany

Jesús J. Lara, professor of City and Regional Planning in the Knowlton School, has been awarded a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program research award to Germany for his project “A Place to Call Home: A study of the relationship between social change and the built environment, and the role of immigrant populations in the process of sustainable urban design, informality and placemaking.”

Kwoka awarded Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Mexico

Margaret Kwoka, Lawrence Herman Professor in Law in the Moritz College of Law, has been awarded a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program research award to Mexico to study the “Independent Oversight of Transparency Laws in México.”

Bonello awarded Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Sweden

Enrico Bonello, professor in the Department of Plant Pathology in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, has been awarded a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program research award to Sweden to study the “Development of advanced phenotyping tools for the management of lethal, invasive alien tree pathogens (IATPs) in Sweden.”

Fulbright 70th Anniversary Scholar Bruce Scates visits Ohio State

Bruce Scates, a professor in the School of History at The Australian National University, is visiting Ohio State as a Fulbright Scholar in April. Scates earned the Fulbright 70th Anniversary Scholar Award, in Honor of Norman Harper, for his project “The Making of America's Great War Centary.”
