Winter Break 2024 Global Education Program Deadlines

 

There are several upcoming global education program deadlines for faculty-led programs taking place during winter break 2024.

The Office of International Affairs offers a myriad of programs for students to choose from, so you can find the one that's the right fit for you. 

A month in Cyprus, a lifetime of perspective

Surrounded by sparkling Mediterranean waters, the island nation of Cyprus is a rich site of cultural, historical, and ecological history spanning more than 11,000 years. One Cypriot native and professor emeritus with the Department of Geography, Stavros Constantinou, has been sharing the singular beauty of Cyprus with the Ohio State community since 2018.

Clark and Koch awarded Freeman-ASIA scholarship to study abroad

Makalah Clark and Samantha Koch have been given Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) scholarships to support their study abroad experiences in East or Southeast Asia.

Louise Yahiaoui earns Bell Resource Center Distinguished Staff Service Award

Congratulations to Louise Yahiaoui, global education and diversity, equity and inclusion specialist, for receiving the Todd A. Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male's Distinguished Staff Service Award. The award recognizes Louise’s dedication and service to African American males at Ohio State with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Two students awarded Boren Scholarships to study critical languages

Two Ohio State students were awarded Boren Scholarships to study critical languages. Piper Harrell, international studies and Japanese double major, will study Japanese at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, for the 2023-24 academic year. Wen Holmes, criminology and Chinese double major and international studies minor, will study Mandarin at the National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, for the 2023-24 academic year.

Ohio State ranked a top producer of Fulbright U.S. scholars and students

The Ohio State University is among only nine doctoral institutions in the country to be named a top producer for both Fulbright U.S. scholar and U.S. student programs, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. This is the second consecutive year that Ohio State has been ranked in both categories.

Ohio State is tied for 4th nationally with seven Fulbright scholar awards and is tied for 18th with 12 Fulbright student awards for the 2022-23 academic year.

Resources to support a diverse and inclusive campus

Ohio State is committed to a safe and welcoming campus, a comprehensive and inclusive education, and a truly anti-racist community for all. All too often there are examples of antisemitism, racism and other hateful behavior reported in the national news.

Diversity and inclusion are essential components of Ohio State's excellence, and the university's shared values establish the commitment to reinforce an ethical culture. There is no place for hate at Ohio State. 

Global education program first four-credit course under Sustainability Theme

The Geography of the European Union and the Challenges of Sustainability global education program is the first study away four-credit integrative course to be approved for the Sustainability Theme.

The new undergraduate student general education (G.E.) model, launched in autumn 2022, focuses on foundational courses and thematic pathways that allow students to customize their academic experiences better.

IIE publishes Open Doors Report

The Ohio State University is ranked in the top 30 nationally among doctoral institutions hosting international students, according to a national report released today.

Ohio State is 26th in the nation and 6th in the Big Ten with 6,604* international students enrolled in 2021, a decrease of 3.8 percent from 2020.

The outbreak of COVID-19 during the 2020-21 academic year significantly limited the ability for students to study abroad and Ohio State currently is not nationally ranked.
