Ohio State ranked 99th in World University Rankings 2024

The Ohio State University is ranked 99th among the world’s top universities, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. Ohio State improved its ranking by 13 spots. The global rankings are based on 18 calibrated performance indicators of research-intensive universities across their core missions of teaching, research, research quality, industry and international outlook.

Şahin appointed new VP for global strategies

The Ohio State University has selected Kaya Şahin, PhD, as its next vice provost for global strategies and international affairs, effective Nov. 1. Şahin currently serves as executive associate dean of the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University (IU).

The Ohio State University has been named one of the world’s top universities, according to the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings released today. Ohio State is ranked 151st in the world and 35th in the United States.

Ohio State Alumni Magazine features Buckeyes from China

Lauren Van Niel ’23, a graduating senior who hails from Ohio comes away impressed and surprised after meeting with five first years attending college far away from home. Her brief encounter with five students from China was published in the Summer 2023 issue of the Ohio State Alumni Magazine where she shares how they acclimated to life on campus and the United States.

Ohio State partners with Kyiv School of Economics

The Ohio State University will partner with the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) to collaborate on research and to share knowledge to support student education.

Ohio State and the Ukraine-based KSE signed a memorandum of understanding to create meaningful collaboration between faculty and students from both institutions. The agreement will be implemented by Ohio State’s new Center for Software Innovation and supported initially by the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, the Fisher College of Business and the College of Engineering.

Faculty grants will support Area Studies Centers engagement

The Office of International Affairs is seeking applications for its Faculty Research, Teaching and Outreach Grant. The grant supports faculty working on projects that align with the mission and current engagement initiatives of the university’s five Area Studies Centers and their respective regions of the world. Proposed activities should be directly connected to Africa, East Asia, Latin America, Middle East or Eastern Europe and Eurasia.

Alicia Baca earns 2023 Mary Ann Williams Leadership Award

Alicia Baca, outreach coordinator for the Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (CSEEES), has been awarded the 2023 Association of Staff and Faculty Women's Mary Ann Williams Leadership Award.

EASC awards Louise Loh Memorial Scholarships for 2023-2024

The East Asian Studies Center has awarded five graduate students and one undergraduate student with Louise Zung-Nyi Loh Memorial Scholarships for academic year 2023-24. The scholarship is awarded to students in any department or major who have an academic specialization and/or research interests in East Asian studies.

JASCO recognizes Ohio State with Corporate Partnership Award

The Japan-American Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) recognized The Ohio State University with its Corporate Partnership Award for advancing educational opportunities about Japan and its engagement with Ohio’s Japanese communities. Executive Vice President and Provost Melissa Gilliam accepted the award on behalf of Ohio State at JASCO’s 26th Anniversary Gala on April 20.

Statistical capacity building – an Ohio State-Uruguay partnership

Dr. Nora M. Bello, professor of statistics and systems modeling in the Department of Animal Sciences, was awarded a Center for Latin American Studies Faculty Travel Grant to fund capacity building work abroad in the summer of 2022.
