Angolan delegation welcomed to campus

Angolan government delegation visited Ohio State University on April 10 for a day of dialogue on building long-term partnerships in research, training, and capacity-building.

Ohio State welcomed an Angolan government delegation to campus on April 10, 2026 at the Wampler Family Conference Room in the Kunz-Brundige Franklin County Extension Building. João Ernesto dos Santos Minister of National Defense and Agostinho de Carvalho dos Santos Van-Dúnem, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the United States headed the delegation. The visit featured dialogue on building long-term partnerships in research, training and capacity-building. 

Conversations explored collaboration opportunities across social science, healthcare, agriculture and environmental innovation, and business education—connecting The Ohio State University faculty and leaders with counterparts in Angola to advance shared priorities and people-to-people ties.

The delegation visit was organized by the Center for African Studies in collaboration with the Ohio National Guard State Partnership Program of the Ohio Adjutant General’s Department, and was co-sponsored and supported by: Office of International Affairs, Mershon Center for International Security Studies, College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, Center for Latin American Studies and Office of the Mayor, City of Columbus.

Representatives from Arts and Sciences, Knowlton School of Architecture, Nursing, Wexner Medical Center, and Fisher College of Business engaged with the delegation.
