Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Buckeyes Abroad: Felicity Risca

Students in the Netherlands

From this experience I've learned that I am resilient and capable of handling just about anything. I've also become more sure of my chosen career path and more confident in my ability to be successful in it,” reflected Felicity Risca, a law student currently abroad studying at Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Risca is studying international law and European law subjects to become more complete in her legal knowledge. She is also taking advantage of the opportunity to travel and live somewhere new and experience a different culture.

“Here at Leiden I am taking classes with impressive students from around the world. Not only has this opportunity allowed me to grow a network of future international lawyers but I also believe it will help me stand out to future employers which is necessary these days,” said Risca.

Outside of the classroom, Risca has enjoyed exploring the local culture while making new friends. She will continue to take advantage of this experience through the end of the semester.

“Some memorable moments include getting a freshly made giant stroopwaffel at the street market that opens every week in town, biking with friends to the beach for a picnic, sitting in on lectures by scholars of various international studies and making spaghetti with friends and having dinner in the courtyard of our student housing.”
