“It was important for me to go abroad because I knew it would develop me both professional and personally. I was lucky to have this experience and learn how to live in a new country for three weeks while getting valuable business experience,” reflected Mariana Del Carpio, a finance major who returned from the Fisher College of Business Global Consulting: Corporate, Argentina program this summer.

Del Carpio was a part of a student consulting team for Nonconformist, a digital services agency, and conducted in-depth market research to evaluate competitive positioning and identify potential opportunities for expansion.
“This experience will help me advance in my career because I gained real world experience and learned how it is to work corporate in another country. I got to learn how to apply my transferable skills in real world settings and learn business international etiquette which I find an invaluable skill that can only be obtained by studying abroad,” said Del Carpio.
The group presented their key findings and strategic recommendations to the leadership team at Nonconformist at the conclusion of the program but had plenty of time for exploration in between.
“What made my summer abroad experience memorable was how we would create spontaneous plans and how much fun we would have exploring this new country all together!”
Students in the FGC Global Consulting programs can choose between a corporate, non-profit or start up organization across 18 countries for a 2-3 week micro-placement in May working abroad and solving real world problems.
“Personally, I learned that I am the planner in large groups and that I am really good at researching hidden gems in new countries,” noted Del Carpio.
