This is the second time in the last five years that Ohio State has been ranked No. 1 for Fulbright U.S. Scholars. Ohio State was one of only 19 institutions recognized as a top producer for both the Fulbright student and scholar programs. The university had 14 faculty selected for the prestigious Fulbright scholar award and 24 student awardees.

Over the last two award cycles, Ohio State has produced 58 Fulbright U.S. students, scholars and specialists, 4 Fulbright-Hays doctoral research abroad recipients and 4 Fulbright-Hays faculty research abroad recipients.

In addition, Ohio State has hosted 25 Fulbright foreign students and 15 Fulbright foreign scholars. This year 23 semi-finalists for U.S. Fulbright student awards have been named.

A recipient of the Fulbright Queen Mary University of London Award to the United Kingdom, medical student Selina Vickery performed dissertation work in Uganda where she studied health systems strengthening in the context of surgical volumes, capacity, and access to surgical care. “This project illuminated the challenges and disparities in health care delivery, particularly in low-resource settings, and underscored the immense importance of international collaboration to make powerful differences in remote communities. My time in Uganda through my Fulbright highlighted the complexity of these issues and reinforced my belief that true solutions to health disparities require not only scientific and medical expertise but also deep cultural empathy and collaborative action,” Vickery reflected.
