Buckeyes Abroad: Quincy Aronovitz

Students at Real Madrid Stadium

“I fell in love with the environment here. I learned not only that I can see myself living in Europe, but also that I'm confident I can adapt and adjust to situations independently when abroad,” reflected Quincy Aronovitz, a sport industry and communication major on the European Model of Sport program.

Students gain firsthand experience in international sports, introducing them to the European model of sport management, marketing and sports law and provides an understanding of the changing context for sport in a global society.

“I wanted to gain insights into how European teams and brands manage their players and facilities. Not only that, but examine the rich history connected to each club that brings the community/fans together,” said Aronovitz, who aspires to be a sports agent after graduation. “People here are born and raised with the same club they aspire to play for, and with that, a greater emphasis is on the athletes and the traditions of the club, rather than money. We should all look into the clubs and teams we support and take a deep dive into how they started, because it's important.”

This year, the group explored Salamanca and Madrid, Spain as well as Lisbon and Porto, Portugal, attending lectures from European sport executives, engaging in student workshops and participating in activities like touring sport facilities and other culturally relevant sites.

For Aronovitz, the most memorable moments came from the relationships he made with his classmates on the program, as well as getting to observe the incredible stadiums and faculties of the region’s top teams.

“Touring Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid to see their facilities and museums was amazing. I also enjoyed touring and experiencing Porto, Portugal, and seeing FC Porto, which we all agreed was one of our favorite stops of the program.”
