Ohio State ranked 99th in World University Rankings 2024

The Ohio State University is ranked 99th among the world’s top universities, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. Ohio State improved its ranking by 13 spots. The global rankings are based on 18 calibrated performance indicators of research-intensive universities across their core missions of teaching, research, research quality, industry and international outlook.

Ohio State ranked 36th among U.S. institutions, improving its position by two spots.

The methodology was significantly changed this year, which likely led to Ohio State’s move into the top 100. The performance indicators increased from 13 to 18 but remained grouped into five areas with refined nomenclature. While changes occurred in all five areas, one example of the new methodology placed more emphasis on data points within the new category of “research quality” (previously named “citations”), which included citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence.

The World University Rankings are based on a review of datapoints, analyzation of citations, research publications and survey responses submitted by more than 2,600 institutions. The rankings include 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions.
