“I wanted to strengthen my ability to adapt in an increasingly interconnected and rapidly changing global marketplace. Business today is shaped by global trends, cultures and perspectives, and this experience allowed me to develop a broader understanding of how organizations operate across different environments. By immersing myself in an international setting, I expanded both my professional and personal skill sets while gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of global business,” reflected Shreya Pant, a finance major who participated in the Fisher Global Consulting: Corporate, New Zealand program.
Pant and a cohort of Fisher College of Business students worked with Fractional Directory, a growing technology company based in Auckland, New Zealand. The group specifically supported business development initiatives and researched strategies to help the company expand its professional network and strengthen engagement within New Zealand's business community.
“This experience will help me move forward in my career by strengthening my adaptability, cultural awareness and ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds. The opportunity to work on real business challenges in an international environment gave me practical experience that will be valuable regardless of the industry or career path I pursue,” shared Pant.
The program provided Pant with opportunities to grow invaluable skills for her personal life as well as her career after graduating.
“Through this experience, I learned how to diversify my perspective in the business world and become more comfortable navigating unfamiliar environments. Working with professionals from different backgrounds showed me how adaptable I can be and reinforced my ability to contribute in a global business setting. I also gained confidence in my communication, problem-solving and professional skills, helping me grow into a more capable and self-assured future business leader,” she said.
Outside of the office, some of Pant’s most memorable moments included immersing herself the local culture of Auckland as well as visiting the surrounding landmarks and cities.
"Some of the most memorable moments were discovering new cuisines throughout Auckland during lunch breaks with my co-interns and exploring New Zealand's incredible landscapes on weekends. Highlights included visiting Queenstown, experiencing the black sand beaches of Piha and taking a trip to Milford Sound, where I was able to see some of the most breathtaking scenery I have ever experienced.”
