Paul Reiter, professor, Division of Health Behavior and Health Promotion in the College of Public Health, has been awarded a 2025-2026 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to research “Perspectives of healthcare providers in the U.S. and U.K. about multi-cancer early detection testing.” From January – July 2026, Reiter will be based at Queen Mary University of London and collaborate with Laura Marlow, a senior research fellow at the university.
The Fulbright project will survey healthcare providers from throughout the United States and the United Kingdom to understand their knowledge, beliefs and acceptability of multi-cancer early detection testing, which is an emerging cancer screening approach.
Reiter’s research focuses on the determinants of engaging in cancer screening and vaccination behaviors and then applying this information to design programs to increase their use.
“The results from this project will provide valuable insights into this area of research. I hope they can help lay the foundation for future programs for healthcare providers about multi-cancer early detection testing. For example, education programs and communication training programs about this new screening approach will likely become important,” Reiter said.
Reiter also hopes to launch a sustainable collaboration between Queen Mary University of London and Ohio State.
