The Ohio State University has been named one of the world’s top universities, according to the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings released today. Ohio State is ranked 151st in the world and 35th in the United States.
QS rankings are based on a weighted methodology of the following performance indicators: international research network (5%), academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (15%), sustainability (5%), employment outcomes (5%), faculty/student ratio (10%), international faculty (5%), citations per faculty (20%) and international students (5%).
Ohio State performed among the top 10 percent of institutions published and was ranked 116th for its international research network, 125th for academic reputation and 148th for employer reputation.
This year QS introduced three new metrics: sustainability, employment outcomes and international research network. It also adjusted the weighting of some existing indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation and faculty/student ratio.
Ohio State achieved its two highest overall scores by performance indicator for its international research network (85/100) and for sustainability (78.4/100), two of the three new metrics added this year.
Among the 199 U.S. institutions evaluated, Ohio State’s top rankings included 23rd for its international research network, 27th for employer reputation and 32nd for academic reputation.
QS World University Rankings 2024 feature 1,499 institutions – up from 1,418 last year – across 104 locations, including 199 in the United States.
