Ohio State and IIT Bombay expand partnership

Ohio State and IIT Bombay are working on a Cotutelle PhD program with the candidate being enrolled in both IIT Bombay and Ohio State with academic supervisory from both institutions to address global scientific challenges spanning materials, data analytics and quantum information technologies. This partnership amplifies Ohio State and IIT Bombay's potential, enhancing interdisciplinary faculty research in energy storage, additive manufacturing and photovoltaics.  

This new collaboration expands the partnership between the two universities, which established the IIT Bombay-Ohio State Frontier Science and Engineering Research Center in 2019. 

During a recent visit to the Frontier Center in Mumbai, Steven Ringel, Ohio State’s executive director of the Institute of Materials Research, Balasubramaniam Shanker, professor in engineering and Shambhavi Singh, director of the India Gateway met with IIT Bombay’s Juzer Vasi, emeritus professor, Devang V. Khakar, professor and former director of IIT-Bombay, and Kishore Chatterjee, professor and head of the Department of Electrical Engineering  The visit aimed to expand the IIT Bombay-Ohio State Frontier Center by introducing dual-degree doctoral programs, broadening collaborative research and fostering ties with other eminent institutions.  

These types of collaborations will advance the significance of Indo-U.S. bilateral academic partnerships.
