Office of International Affairs awards 58 Buckeyes global education scholarships

The Office of International Affairs recognized 58 Ohio State students and awarded $109,000 in scholarships for summer 2022, autumn 2022 and academic year 2022-2023 global education programs. Ranging from $500 and $3,000, these scholarships will provide students with assistance for global education program fees and living expenses abroad.

The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship Endowed Fund was established September 1, 1999, with a $1 million gift from the Robert F. Wolfe and Edgar T. Wolfe Foundation. The scholarship supports students from Ohio who plan to participate in longer-term global education programs.

  • Josh Brofford, majoring in civil engineering (Engineering the Castles and Cathedrals of England and Wales)
  • Veronica Cook, majoring in English (British Horror Film in London)
  • Becca Duncan, majoring in journalism (Medieval Art in Italy: Rome and Florence)
  • Jacob English, majoring in mechanical engineering (Engineering the Castles and Cathedrals of England and Wales)
  • Angela Fisher, majoring in marketing (FCOB Industry Immersion: Italy)
  • Raquel Foster, majoring in biology (Medieval Art in Italy: Rome and Florence)
  • Allie Gerckens, majoring in music education (Music, Education, and Artistry: The Heart of Europe)
  • Tim Greenwell, majoring in international business (ISA Barcelona, Spain: Spanish Language and Culture)
  • Angela Heaney, majoring in international studies (IAU: Aix-en-Provence, France)
  • Kelsie Hegemeyer, majoring in marketing (Fisher Global Internships: France)

The Francille M. Firebaugh Global Education Fund supports Ohio State students seeking global education programs that are relevant to students’ academic goals, career goals and academic achievement.

  • Bethany Masseburg-Jackson, majoring in electrical and computer engineering (Literature and Culture of London)
  • Angela Ciarochi, majoring in communications (S’ant Anna)
  • Joseph Krol, majoring in actuarial ccience (Global May Great Britain)
  • Maya Maurer, majoring in political science (Sogang University)
  • Alyssa Torres, majoring in biochemistry (ISA Valencia, Spain: Hispanic Studies)
  • Grace Bates, majoring in zoology (Tropical Field Ecology in Panama)
  • Nyah Conway, majoring in medical anthropology (ISA Barcelona, Spain: Spanish Language & Culture)
  • Quinn Knopp, majoring in film studies (Education Abroad Network: Summer in Seoul)
  • Rachel Simroth, majoring in international studies (FIE: Conflict and the Struggle for Peace: Explorations in Ireland and the Middle East)

The Global Education Endowed Fund will help provide financial support to students who plan to participate in Ohio State global education programs to enhance their educational experience.

Global Education Endowed Fund scholarships were awarded to:

  • Kaira Mack, majoring in psychology (Multicultural Histories and Legacies of Rome: Classics, Colosseums and Cathedrals)

Kathryn M. and Dan E. Moore Study Abroad Scholarships provide support to undergraduate students in their second, third or fourth year who demonstrate financial need, involvement in a student organization(s) and participation in a global education program lasting at least one semester.

  • Unni Shreram, majoring in mathematics (Global May Spain)
  • Jay Lin, majoring in biochemistry (Medieval Art in Italy: Rome and Florence)
  • Lilly Vagedes, majoring in chemical engineering (Engineering the Castles and Cathedrals of England and Wales)
  • Sarah Cosentino, majoring in marketing (Fisher College of Business Undergraduate Exchange – Universita Commerciale Luigi)

The John T. Mount Fund for Regional Campuses scholarships are awarded to at least one Ohio State student attending a regional campus per semester.

The Jutta and Peter Neckermann Study Abroad Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for students who plan to participate in global education programs in Germany.

  • Juhi Rai, majoring in marketing (FCOB Freshman Global Lab)
  • Eric Rodriguez, majoring in marketing (FCOB Freshman Global Lab)

The Daniel G. Amstutz International Studies Scholarship Fund supports students in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, the Fisher College of Business or the College of Humanities who are engaged in the study of and/or research of international trade or other international topics.

The O-H-I-O Global Education Scholarship was established in 2016 by the Office of International Affairs to support and encourage underrepresented and diverse student access to Ohio State global education opportunities.

O-H-I-O Global Education Scholarship recipients include:

  • Trinity Feliciano, majoring in criminology

The Boshara-Iannotti Family Scholarship for Young Scholars Studying Abroad provides up to two annual global education scholarships to students who are participating in the Young Scholars Program.
