Fisher College of Business Dean Makhija visits India

Fisher College of Business Dean Anil Makhija visited India in November to expand and enhance relationships with partners. His meeting with representatives from prominent hospitals sparked interest in clinical operational excellence training programs for resident doctors. Makhija also took time to meet with alumni in Delhi and Mumbai.

Since 2015 and under Makhija’s leadership, Fisher has broadened the reach of the college’s research and expertise to the Indian Subcontinent. Fisher collaborated with IIT Bombay to develop an executive program for managers working at different conglomerates. In 2018, Fisher hosted its first corporate engagement with Tata Management Training Centre. Makhija reinforced this collaboration by initiating the first cohort of the “Leadership in Execution Excellence Program” for senior managers at Tata Motors. Similar conversations with the Mahindra Institute of Quality (MIQ) led to a Post Graduate Diploma in Operations Management (PGDOM).

As a recognized and ranked leader in operational excellence education, and through the work of its Center for Operational Excellence, Fisher has increased its executive education collaboration with Tata and Mahindra to include other companies within both conglomerates.

“Business education at Ohio State has always prepared the next generation of leaders to make an immediate impact in their careers and around the world,” Makhija said. “Fisher’s Executive Education focuses specifically on partnering with companies to drive corporate and individual growth. A strong collaboration with Tata — a global conglomerate that shares the same core values as Fisher — has allowed faculty to deliver multiple programs to Tata executives from across the world while overcoming the challenges created by the global pandemic. The role played by the India Gateway has been instrumental in founding and fostering the relationship with the Tata leadership in India.”

Since 2019, Fisher has worked to provide executive education programming to more than 1,000 Indian senior executives each year across the globe. More information about these programs and collaborations is available by contacting Manoj Garai, assistant director, India Gateway.
