Consul General Wolfgang Moessinger and Fabrizio Micalizzi, assistant to the coordinator of transatlantic cooperation, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Chicago visited Ohio State on May 4 to open a dialogue with current and former exchange students, scientists, researchers, and faculty on the benefits and challenges of collaboration between the two nations.
The campus visit included both in-person and virtual attendees and recent recipients of prestigious awards from the German Academic Exchange Program and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Opening remarks were offered by Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs Gil Latz. Elizabeth Angerman, international partnerships program manager, moderated the discussion that centered on “Germany’s Footprint in Research and Higher Education in Ohio.” A robust conversation followed, covering topics ranging from student mobility, funding opportunities, German language instruction, and government support for critical research in STEM fields.
