Juhi Rai, sophomore marketing major, received the Peter Neckermann Study Abroad Scholarship for her Freshman Global Lab program in Hamburg, Germany, during summer 2022.
The Jutta and Peter Neckermann Study Abroad Scholarship Fund ranging from $500 to $1,000 has provided scholarships for Ohio State students studying abroad in Germany since 1998.
“With the help of scholarships, I’ve had the international experience I’ve always wanted,” said Rai on the impact of receiving the scholarship. “It was nice knowing that I didn’t have to feel burdened about paying a lot out of pocket, and that I could enjoy my time in Germany.”
Rai studied abroad during the summer after her freshman year and spent much of the time in Hamburg, where the program is based. Her group toured companies like Airbus and Mercedes-Benz and visited Berlin and the city of Bremen. During class, professors from Kuhne Logistics University gave talks on up-and-coming trends regarding consumers and logistics.
“Global education was influential in shaping my academic experience because instead of just learning the material and researching examples, our instructor took us to companies and the Hamburg port to show the logistics in action,” said Rai.
Rai wanted to gain international exposure as soon as possible because of how many experiences and opportunities awaited her globally.
“These experiences I had are unique and ones that I can reflect upon fondly during interviews or when talking about my college career.”
