The Ohio State University has opened a Passport Acceptance Facility, providing students, faculty, staff and members of the greater Columbus community with a more convenient place to take the first step toward international travel.
Operated by the Office of International Affairs, the facility processes applications for first-time adult passport applicants and individuals who are not eligible to renew by mail or online. It also offers photo services for new passport applications, passport renewals and visas.
For many students, obtaining a passport is the first step toward studying abroad. Traveling to passport acceptance locations elsewhere in Columbus can create challenges, particularly for students who do not have access to a car or are unfamiliar with local transportation. The campus facility is intended to make the application process more accessible and convenient while supporting Ohio State’s commitment to international engagement.
The facility is open to the public, extending this service beyond the university community to individuals and families throughout central Ohio.
Applicants should review all requirements before scheduling an appointment. Depending on the application, required materials must include a completed application form, proof of U.S. citizenship, an acceptable photo identification document, photocopies, a compliant passport photo and separate payments for federal and facility fees. Requirements differ for applicants younger than 18. Applicants can view the steps to apply for a first-time passport on Ohio State’s passport facility’s web page.
Whether preparing to study, conduct university business or take a vacation abroad travelers can begin their international journey at Ohio State.
