Four Ohio State students have been awarded the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for summer 2025.

Summer 2025 Recipients

  • Saanil Rao, fourth year, major in biomedical engineering, Arcadia Abroad - STEM Summer Research - Kings College London, summer 2025
    • "The Gilman Scholarship is helping me travel to King’s College London to conduct research on Robotic Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Ultrasound Scanning. I’m looking forward to exploring London and feel truly honored to be part of impactful biomedical research alongside top researchers at King’s. I feel incredibly fortunate and grateful to have been selected—this scholarship is giving me the chance to do something I never imagined would be possible for me."
  • Isis Davis, third year, major in Korean and electrical and computer engineering, Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Korea University, academic year 2025-2026
    • "I can't say enough how endlessly grateful I am to the Gilman team and the Department of State for this amazing opportunity being given to me. I applied back in October and was incredibly disappointed when I didn't receive the scholarship, so reading that acceptance letter was beyond surreal and still is. I check the letter at least once a day just to make sure I didn't imagine it. I'm also so thankful to have such an amazing team in the OIA here at OSU. Jenny Kraft and Michael Volk, prior to his departure, have both been amazing resources and I don't think I could have done it without them. I'm ecstatic that my dreams of traveling abroad and perfecting my language skills are finally becoming a reality, and I feel honored to have been chosen to be a Gilman Scholar. "
  • Natalie Campbell, third year, major in sociology, Iceland: Environment and Natural Resources, summer 2025
  • Mason Bean, second year, exploration program, independent study to United Kingdom, summer 2025

The scholarship is awarded twice annually, with deadlines every March and October. Students interested in applying for the upcoming cycle are encouraged to learn more and apply.
