How did you choose Ohio State?
I chose Ohio State because it offered an incredible blend of academic excellence, vibrant campus life, and strong support for international students. I was drawn to the university's diverse community and the extensive resources available—from state-of-the-art research facilities to dedicated international student services. The campus culture felt welcoming, and I appreciated that Ohio State values global perspectives, which was essential for me as an international student. Additionally, the range of extracurricular activities and networking opportunities assured me that I would grow both academically and personally during my time here.
How did you meet other Buckeyes and connect to the Ohio State community?

I met other Buckeyes by taking full advantage of campus events and student organizations. I attended orientation programs, including specialized sessions for international students, where I connected with peers who were also navigating a new environment. Joining clubs and groups—ranging from cultural associations to academic and recreational clubs—helped me build friendships and find a community that shared my interests.
I also participated in campus traditions like sporting events, volunteer opportunities, and social gatherings, which made it easy to bond with fellow students and feel truly part of the Ohio State family.
What is residence life experience like for you?

Living in the residence halls has been a transformative part of my experience at Ohio State. The dorms offer a welcoming and diverse community where I quickly felt at home, even coming from abroad. Daily life here is much more than just a place to sleep—it's a hub for making friends and engaging in activities that bridge cultural differences.
For instance, our residence hall organizes regular community events like floor mixers, cultural nights, and study sessions. These events have provided the perfect opportunities to meet fellow Buckeyes from various backgrounds, share stories about our different cultures, and build lasting friendships. The shared spaces, like common lounges and kitchens, naturally foster conversations and collaboration, making it easier to ask for help or simply enjoy each other's company.
Additionally, the residence staff is incredibly supportive. They often check in to ensure we're adjusting well and provide useful tips for campus life, which has been particularly reassuring as an international student. Overall, the vibrant community and the accessible support system in the residence halls have greatly enriched my Ohio State experience, making it not just about academics but about growing personally and socially as well.
How are you finding the academics and classroom experience?
The academic environment at Ohio State is dynamic and intellectually stimulating. While the courses are rigorous and often push me out of my comfort zone, this challenge has been incredibly rewarding. I appreciate the diverse teaching methods used by professors—from engaging lectures to interactive seminars and group projects—that encourage us to not only absorb information but also critically analyze and apply it in real-world scenarios.
The classroom setting is collaborative, with discussions that draw on a wide range of cultural and academic perspectives, which has enriched my learning experience significantly. Moreover, professors make a genuine effort to be accessible outside of class, offering additional support during office hours and through academic workshops. This blend of high expectations and supportive guidance has not only deepened my understanding of the subjects but has also fostered personal growth and resilience as I adapt to new academic challenges.
What clubs are you involved with?

My involvement in the Indian Students Association, the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and various consulting teams has greatly enriched my experience at Ohio State. The Indian Students Association offers a welcoming community where I celebrate my cultural heritage and connect with fellow students who share similar backgrounds. Through the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering, I've had the opportunity to deepen my technical knowledge and collaborate on innovative projects that bridge classroom theory with practical application. Additionally, participating in diverse consulting teams has allowed me to apply strategic thinking to real-world challenges, enhancing both my problem-solving skills and professional network. These multifaceted engagements not only contribute to my academic success but also foster personal growth and a broader perspective on my future career.
What has been a highlight of the semester/year?
One of the standout moments this year was collaborating on a challenging consulting project with my team. Working closely with peers from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering, I had the opportunity to apply classroom theories to real-world problems. The project not only sharpened my technical and strategic skills but also deepened my connection to the Buckeye community. The energy, creativity, and camaraderie we shared throughout the process truly encapsulated what makes Ohio State a vibrant and supportive environment.
