Three of Ohio State’s Area Studies Centers are seeking graduate, professional and select undergraduate students (eligibility varies by center), who are pursuing studies in advanced foreign language and area studies training, to apply for a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS). The fellowships are for Summer 2025 and Academic Year 2025-26 and are funded through the U.S. Department of Education’s Title VI grant. The East Asian Studies Center, Center for Latin American Studies and Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies will host a series of information sessions through the end of autumn semester. Applications open November 1.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Commitment to studying a FLAS-eligible language, and its area of the world
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Full-time enrollment, or admission acceptance to be enrolled full time
- Academic year fellowships require both language courses and courses pertinent to related world areas. Summer fellowships require an intensive language program.
Summer 2025 and Academic Year 2025-2026 FLAS fellowship deadline:
February 1, 2025, 4:30 p.m. EST.
