Abbey Kashani Motlagh, a sophomore majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering, studied abroad through the B1G STEM and Irish Studies program in the summer of 2024.

My study abroad experience was so memorable because of the fun experiences I had with people I had never met prior to the trip! I got to meet people from schools such as University of Michigan, and travel around Ireland with them and Europe. I was so surprised that built into the history course we got to go all across Dublin and even to some of Ireland's national parks.
A favorite memory of mine was hopping on a flight after class with a group of my friends from Michigan and heading to Scotland for the weekend. We made amazing memories there and I never would have thought the trip would allow us the freedom to travel across Europe!
After this experience I found a new sense of maturity and cultural experience about myself and the world! The Irish are so welcoming and their culture is truly fascinating. Most definitely I am more culturally competent because of it.
My advice for students who are considering studying abroad is to just do it! This opportunity is once in a lifetime. It is vital that you take hold of it and go out to experience the world.
