India Gateway prepares new students for a success at Ohio State

Heading off to college is an exciting new adventure that is uniquely challenging for international students. For new Buckeyes from India, the India Gateway can be counted on to offer assistance.

Pre-arrival sessions, designed to ease the transition to Ohio State, featured insights from Yashwardhan Joshi, BS ’26 finance, and Kaustubh Kumar, PhD '26 environmental studies, who shared valuable experiences and perspectives. Working in partnership with alumni clubs, the Gateway also co-organized send-off events in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. The gatherings fostered bonds among students and their families, formed connections with other students and alumni and helped future Buckeyes feel confident and well-prepared for the move to Columbus. More than 100 undergraduate, graduate and professional program students, their families, current students and alumni participated.

Pre-arrival sessions and the send-off event serve as a crucial part of orientation activities, offering new international students the opportunity to build connections with fellow students, alumni and the India Gateway, thereby expanding their network even before arriving at Ohio State.
