Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is designated by the Department of Homeland Security for certain countries due to the conditions in the country that temporarily prevent the country’s nationals from returning safely. TPS is a temporary benefit and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) may grant TPS to eligible individuals who are already in the United States and who are citizens of (or last resided in) certain countries.
Guidance on TPS eligibility and the application process should be provided by an immigration attorney. If students have questions about TPS, please contact an immigration attorney or Student Legal Services at 614-247-5853.

It should be noted that Special Student Relief (SSR) and TPS are different. Please review our SSR page for more information on this separate special circumstance.
