Michael Betz, associate professor, Department of Human Sciences in the College of Education and Human Ecology, has been awarded a 2023-2024 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Norway to study “COVID-19’s impact on fertility in Norway and the United States.”

Gönül Z. Kaletunç, professor in Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering in the College of Food Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and director, Faculty Professional Development Program in the College of Engineering, was awarded a 2023-2024 Fulbright U.S. Specialist grant to the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia to share her expertise on "Advanced technologies in encapsulation of bioactive compounds: Research and academic approach."

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers teaching and research awards to United States citizens in more than 135 countries. The Fulbright Scholar competition for academic year 2024-25 is open. Opportunities are available for university faculty and administrators.

In addition to new program models to meet the changing needs of U.S. academics and professionals, Fulbright offers more opportunities for flexible, multi-country grants.

Dr. Nora M. Bello, professor of statistics and systems modeling in the Department of Animal Sciences, was awarded a Center for Latin American Studies Faculty Travel Grant to fund capacity building work abroad in the summer of 2022.

Craig Shapiro, a doctoral student with the Department of Anthropology, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Open Study/Research Award by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants for this award design their own projects for a country and often work alongside faculty at international institutions of higher education. The award is available in 140 countries around the world.

Ignacio Corona, an associate professor of literatures and cultures of Latin America in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad (FRA) Fellowship by the U.S.

José Pérez, a doctoral student in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship by the U.S. Department of Education, International and Foreign Language Education (IFLE) office.

Amy J. Schmitz, John Deaver Drinko-Baker & Hostetler Chair in Law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, has been awarded a 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Specialist award to strengthen the research, education and international collaboration in the field of digital conflict resolution.

Ohio State School of Music faculty Robert Brooks and Lara Semetko-Brooks showcased American music genres and strengthened the relationship with The University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna via two high profile events in Austria this summer.

Seven faculty members, 19 graduate students and three undergraduate students are the recipients of more than $100,000 in funding to pursue international research and scholarship projects during the 2022-23 academic year. The International Research and Scholarship grant competition is supported by the Offices of International Affairs, Research, Student Academic Success and the Global Gateways.
