Nursing and healthcare education leaders from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland, joined the Nurse Educator podcast to describe their initiatives to develop solutions to complex healthcare problems in their local community.

The Office of International Affairs is pleased to announce the grantees for the first Global Gateways Initiative grant program.

Mateo Zevallos is a second-year undergraduate student studying Biomedical Science. He was awarded a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowship to study Portuguese during the summer of 2023.

Saori Wakita is a PhD student in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literature. She was awarded a FLAS fellowship to study Korean during the summer of 2023. 

What did you do during your FLAS Fellowship? When and where did you study?

I studied Korean at Ewha Language Center, Ewha Womans University during the summer of 2023.

Aron Olegnowicz, an undergraduate student studying political science and psychology, was awarded a FLAS fellowship to study advanced Chinese in Taiwan during the summer of 2023. 

What did you do during your FLAS Fellowship?

I was immersed in an intensive seven-week Chinese Flagship program at National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. I also got the chance to travel across the island through my Flagship program and independently using the vast public transportation system.

Sharvari Karandikar, professor and associate dean of academic affairs in the College of Social Work, was awarded a 2023-2024 Fulbright U.S. Specialist grant to address the issues of human trafficking, human rights, and migration alongside researchers and scholars from the University of Coimbra in Portugal.

Scott Hardy, extension educator, Ohio Sea Grant College Program in the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Sea Grant, was awarded a 2023-2024 Fulbright U.S.

Natalie Wright Romeri-Grass, a doctoral student in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship by the U.S.

Mohamed Shedeed, a doctoral student in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship by the U.S.
