Training on monitoring and evaluation

The Global One Health initiative (GOHi) Eastern Africa office, in collaboration with Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), facilitated a three-day training from March 2-4 at Bishoftu, Ethiopia, targeting monitoring and evaluation (M&E) at EPHI and sub nationals working with the surveillance program. The training covered M&E basics, M&E frameworks, public health evaluations, stakeholder engagement, SMART indicators and data quality and use with a focus on designing and planning M&E systems to improve project outcomes and data-driven actions.

GOHi conducted pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate the training's effectiveness and found an increase in participants' overall performance after the training. The findings also highlight that capacity-building efforts need to be continued to bring participants' performance to a higher level to apply M&E for project management to maximize result outcomes effectively.
