Tigistu-Sahle participated in single-cell sequencing training

As part of the international TMRC-funded project under the leadership of Abhay Satoskar, professor of pathology and microbiology at The Ohio State University, Feven Tigistu-Sahle, a research scientist and OMICS team lead at GOHi, attended a hands-on practical training on single-cell sequencing at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), February 20 – March3, to improve her knowledge and experience on transcriptomics.

This training was conducted in Antwerp, Belgium and included both theoretical and hands-on practice led by Thao-Thy Pham, Department of Clinical Sciences, ITM and a field application specialist of 10X Genomics. The training focused on the single cell transcriptomic immune profiling method using the chromium controller. Subsequently, using this single cell 5' protocol, Tigistu-Sahle was able to improve her understanding in single-cell transcriptomic profiling a comprehensive, scalable solution for measuring immune repertoire information and gene expression from the same cell. Tigistu-Sahle should be able to translate and implement this method in Ethiopia and train fellow researchers with this advanced methodology.
