Strengthening vaccine pharmacovigilance system in Ethiopia

The Global One Health initiative (GOHi), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Food and Drug Administration Authority (EFDA), organized a project kickoff and sensitization workshop about adverse events following immunizations (AEFI) in August in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

High-level leadership and representatives from key stakeholders, including the EFDA, Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH), Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), the World Health Organization (CDC), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Taskforce for Global Health and the GOHi Eastern Africa office attended the workshop. The discussion included project scope, implementation progress and new areas of collaboration to strengthen the national vaccine pharmacovigilance system.

The kickoff workshop was an opportunity to bring stakeholders to a shared goal and advocate for collaboration and integration to have robust vaccine safety surveillance in Ethiopia.
