Using various outreach methods such as emails, phone calls, and both virtual and in-person sessions, the India Gateway supported over 600 incoming undergraduate students admitted for fall 2024, including those from India as well as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The engagement efforts included a series of events, both in-person and virtual, which attracted nearly 150 students and their families. Collaborating closely with the Undergraduate Admissions team, the India Gateway coordinated webinars on March 9 and April 6, that offered valuable insights about Ohio State and guided admitted students through the admission process. Current students Drishti Joshi and Aiyanna Singhal candidly shared their experiences on campus and fielded questions from eager prospective Buckeyes.
Complementing the virtual sessions, the India Gateway also organized events in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. Students and families engaged directly with Ohio State representatives, including Akshay Nair and Rajat Bakshi in Delhi, and Karan Bhasin and current student Nathan Gajowski in Mumbai. Sudhanshu Agrawal and Vamsi Varanasi helped plan these events and shared insights.
Further reinforcing the bond between Ohio State and students from India, Bernardo Ribeiro from Undergraduate Admissions visited these cities to meet with students and families. These sessions provided attendees with the opportunity to inquire about various aspects of student life. Housing, campus transportation, placement tests, safety measures, fee structures, and opportunities offered through the Indian Students Association were covered. Admitted students are now well-equipped for a seamless transition to campus in August.
