Images and photographers from India are featured prominently in the 2023 International Photography Exhibition.
A staff member, Ryan Staples, captured "Udaipur Women" and earned 2nd Place in the People Category. A faculty member from India, Ranjith Kumar Abhinavam captured "Pathos" and won the People's Choice Award in the People Category. A graduate student from India, Harish Moni Prakash earned Honorable Mention in the People Category for his "Untitled" photo captured in Vellayani Kayal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Second Place and People's Choice in the Arts & Culture Category went to a visiting scholars from India, Manoj Patil for "Traditional farming."
The 2023 International Photography Exhibition features 40 original photographs taken overseas in 26 different countries by 35 Ohio State students, staff, faculty, visiting scholars and alumni. Over 300 members of the campus community submitted more than 650 photographs across three categories: People, Places and Arts & Culture. The exhibition includes a diverse selection of images captured in Argentina, Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, Faroe Islands, France, Georgia, Greece, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and Uganda.
The 33 exhibition photographers represent a cross-section of Buckeyes including: 10 undergraduate students, six graduate students, seven staff members, one faculty, one visiting scholar and 10 alumni of Ohio State. Fifteen of the photographers in the exhibit are international and hail from eight different countries: Argentina, Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Mongolia, Russia, and Taiwan.
Organized annually by the Office of International Affairs, the international photography competition and exhibition has showcased Ohio State’s top international photography for more than 20 years.
