India Buckeyes meet virtually

The Alumni Club of South India and the India Gateway jointly organized a couple of virtual alumni get togethers over International Yoga Day on June 21 and on July 2 for a session on 3-D Printing.

The Alumni Club of South India hosted its first alumni gathering in a virtual setting around the topic of Health and Wellness. The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the world annually since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. India Buckeyes celebrated International Yoga Day over a zoom meeting on June 21. Surabhi Johri (BS ’03 Horticulture and Crop Science) is a Hyderabad-based Buckeye alumna and a Yoga Alliance certified teacher from Yogavahini. She practices and teaches yoga, in the tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya and believes in nature's intelligence that pervades all creations.

The alumni club also organized a session on 3D printing and additive manufacturing on July 2, with Vishwanath Godavarty (MS ‘03 Mechanical Engineering), a Buckeye based out of Malaysia. Godavarty currently serves as Business Head, IMEA for Sedaxis. He transitioned his career from the automotive industry to the electronics manufacturing industry and is responsible for establishing a 3D Printing division. In 3 years, he has inked partnerships with some of the leading 3D Printing hardware OEMs in the world, and set up a strategic partnership with Vellore Institute of Technology to make 3D Printing accessible and relevant to SMEs, academia, and R&D.

Godavarty demonstrated how 3D printing and conventional manufacturing work, branching out into Formative, subtractive, and additive manufacturing (3D printing) focusing entirely on how it is used in today’s world and the domain in which it is being used. The session was loaded with in-depth technical aspects of 3D printing.

Godavarty is open to connecting and sharing more information if anybody is interested in knowing his area of work or  3D printing technology. He can be contacted by email Vishwanath@sedaxis.com.
