GOHi provides NGS training in Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) has established a Genomic Core Facility operated by a team of 12 experts from different divisions. This facility aims to fill in the gaps in genomic workflows and strengthen the capacity for genomic data analysis.

Through this ongoing international health regulations (IHR) project, the Global One Health initiative (GOHi) has been involved in strengthening the core genome sequencing capacity of the institute. Based on the gap assessment results, Zelalem Mekuria, GOHi genomics senior expert, and Eyasu Tigabu, GOHi senior lab expert, conducted a five-day training on metagenomics protocol and bioinformatics data analysis for six team members at the institute. The training covered bench-level protocols as well as metagenomics data analysis drill exercises.
