The Global One Health initiative (GOHi) Eastern Africa Office, in collaboration with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has been working to implement the Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) project. This project aims to strengthen antimicrobial resistance detection and response capacities in Zewditu Memorial Hospital and Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital.
As part of the implementation plan, the GOHi Eastern Africa Office procured and delivered laboratory supplies and equipment worth over $45,000 to the two hospitals. This support will ensure rapid detection of multi-drug resistance pathogens from patients admitted to antimicrobial resistance hot spots, primarily intensive care units and implementation of timely infection prevention and control (IPC) action to contain the spread of multidrug-resistant pathogens.
