The Leadership, Management and Governance (LMG) project implementing partners – The Ohio State University Global One Health initiative (GOHi), Texas Tech University and Oklahoma State University – in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education and the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, organized a two-day training workshop for the second cohort of university leaders in Addis Ababa from August 14-15, 2023. The LMG program in Ethiopian Higher Education aims to enhance the capacity of Ethiopian public higher education institutions, improving the governance systems and the quality of education, research and innovation in Ethiopian higher education.
The workshop hosted 25 Ethiopian university presidents and vice presidents from 19 Ethiopian public universities. Discussions covered key areas such as challenges and opportunities of Ethiopian higher education, change management, strategic planning process and implementation, collaborations and partnerships. Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson, Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, gave opening remarks.
This cohort of LMG fellows will participate in an experiential learning visit to the three U.S. universities to learn more about the universities' leadership, management and governance.
