Executive Director of Ohio State's Global One Health initiative, Wondwossen Gebreyes, recently visited the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia and met with U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia Tracey Ann Jacobson, USAID Ethiopia Director Sean Jones, CDC Country Director for Ethiopia Caroline Ryan, and Cultural Attaché Doug Johnston to discuss strategic priorities and strengthen long-standing partnerships in the health and higher education sectors.
The delegation also included Ebba Abate, Desalegne Degefaw and Bethlehem Hailemariam from the GOHi Eastern Africa office.
During his time in Ethiopia, Gebreyes also met with Lia Tadesse, minister of health of Ethiopia, Samuel Kifle, minister of education of Ethiopia, Mesay Hailu, director general of the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and various EPHI deputies. Gebreyes and members of Global One Health discussed the progress of joint projects, the projects’ impacts and the plans to strengthen GOHi’s partnerships and outreach during the meetings.
