Wondwossen Gebreyes, executive director of the Global One Health Initiative (GOHI), visited Kenya from May 1-5 to accomplish the following:
- Promote the One Health approach established through integration of research and implementation of science capacity in multidisciplinary areas that have a strong and tangible impact to the global community.
- Renew the Memorandum of Agreement between Ohio State and KEMRI, which is aimed at human capacity building in the areas of infectious diseases research, antimicrobial resistance, global health security, etc.
- Create new partnerships.
- Discuss progress of ongoing projects.
- Meet with Ohio State Fellows to discuss progress related to their PhD and postdoc work.
Gebreyes visited with representatives from KEMRI, Center for Global Health Research-Kisumu, KEMRI Headquarters and Centre for Microbiology Research, the GOHi liaison office in Nairobi, the International Livestock Research Institute, International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology and University of Nairobi’s Department of Public Health Pharmacology and Toxicology.
