Sixteen Ohio State alumni joined the inaugural Virtual Buckeye Happy Hour on August 17 to connect with fellow Buckeyes across the Greater China region. The new program, which will be held every quarter, is facilitated by the China Gateway with support from The Ohio State University Alumni Association (OSUAA) and alumni clubs in the region.
Alice Mong, a member of the OSUAA Board of Directors and director of the Asian Society Hong Kong Center, was the featured speaker. The group, which included Daniel Rodriguez from the OSUAA and leadership teams from the alumni clubs of Hong Kong, Beijing, Shenzhen and Chengdu, shared ideas on how to develop a strong alumni network in the Greater China region, what resources the university might provide and how to elevate and recognize alumni from China.
“Next March when the new round of alumni nominations open, we are looking forward to hearing more stories from our Asian alumni,” said Phoebe You, director of the China Gateway. “It doesn’t have to be the standard success story. It could be a story about how you are supporting the community or those in need or doing innovative work as a young entrepreneur. Experience, age or income are never the limitation.”
