The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Board of Trustees and CGIAR recently appointed Appolinaire Djikeng as the Director General of ILRI and CGIAR Senior Director of Livestock-Based Systems.
Djikeng is a long-time member of the Global One Health initiative (GOHi) and spearheaded several research training activities in eastern Africa. He has served as a faculty mentor to the NIH D43 One Health Eastern Africa Research Training program and co-founded the International Congress on Pathogens at the Human Animal Interface (ICOPHAI).
"We are very delighted of Professor Djikeng's appointment as ILRI Director General. He is a highly deserving and outstanding choice who will bring strong scientific and leadership caliber to the organization and the communities it serves," GOHi Executive Director Wondwossen Gebreyes said.
Djikeng is a globally recognized expert in developing multidisciplinary, multi-institutional and global research and development programs focused on agriculture development, livestock development and human health.
