Founding president of the Alumni Club of India, Akshay Nair was awarded the 2022 Pay It Forward Award by The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Under his leadership, the club has earned Scarlet status each year since its inception in 2018. During 2022, Nair supported the creation of the Alumni Club of South India during its chartering process and he called more than 100 incoming first-year Indian students to welcome them to the Buckeye family.
Nair has attended multiple college fairs in Northern India and engaged with numerous prospective students. He also supported the India Gateway with alumni outreach and engagement.
