The Ohio State University School of Music continued its commitment to international collaboration through its ongoing Music Residency Program in Brazil. This October, the program expanded to the cities of João Pessoa and Natal, located along Brazil’s northeast coast.

During their visit, professors David Hedgecoth, Susan Powell and Michael R. Torres engaged with students, educators and local communities through a series of activities. With support from the Brazil Gateway, faculty led saxophone and percussion masterclasses and delivered music education lectures at the Federal University of Paraíba in João Pessoa and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in Natal. The visit also included several public recitals, offering audiences opportunities to experience live performances.

This residency program reflects the School of Music’s efforts to build cultural exchange, promote the arts and create meaningful global experiences for students and faculty.
