Join the Center for Latin American Studies, Columbus State Community College, The City University of New York, and the Spanish and Portuguese Club for the second screening of the 2024 Latin American Film Festival. This year's theme is Liberation.
The second film, La Yuma (Nicaragua, 2011), tells the story of a young woman who dreams of transcending her bleak life in the slums of Managua by becoming a boxer. Register to stream the movie from September 4 through September 11.
Following the screening of the film, please join Dr. Kammi Schmeer, Professor in the Department of Sociology, and Dr. Nicole Kraft, Associate Professor of Practice in the School of Communication, for a discussion and Q&A about the movie.
