Description

Music, Education and Artistry will immerse students in an intensive artistic, historical and cultural experience of Vienna and Lienz, Austria. In this three-week education abroad course, students learn about the rise and fall of the Habsburg Empire, the social context of its development, and its influence in the cultural development of Europe. We will follow the lives of artists whose creative work in poetry, visual arts and music made Vienna a cultural center of the world. We will explore their legacies by visiting landmarks in the city and walking the streets they walked during their lives. We will study their creative outputs and also engage in the artistic activities in which they participated. Major highlights of the trip include learning to dance typical and traditional Viennese dances, attending a classic Viennese ball and concerts of the Vienna State Opera and Vienna Symphoniker.
